Anita Stahl, Ph.D.
Director

Prior to my role with URCA, I received my Ph.D. in the UCSB Department of Feminist Studies where I taught and designed many classes, including an undergraduate research seminar and interdisciplinary special topics courses about Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova. My research examines how the women's professional tennis tour globally circulates ideas about gender, sexuality, and race.
In my free time, I like to visit tennis tournaments, ski, hike, practice Muay Thai, and play tabletop games.
I use she/her pronouns.

Anniysh Sivakumar
Peer Mentor, Office of Teaching and Learning
Anniysh is an undergraduate student pursuing a B.S. in Biology at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He is currently involved in neuroscience research, studying the cortical circuits underlying visual processing, spatial perception, and spatial memory using murine models. As a dancer, he is interested in researching the potential of dance as a form of rehabilitative therapy for patients with neurodegenerative diseases, and has previously conducted independent research on the differences in visuospatial cognition between dancers and nondancers. As a student researcher and mentor, Anniysh wants to continue exploring the intersections between neuroscience and the arts and help other students find their own research interests.
