Title

Surface Characterization of Nanofluidic Devices

Abstract

This project seeks to develop a robust procedure for the surface characterization of nanofluidic devices designed to transport DNA. It uses a well-established current monitoring experiment to examine the velocity of fluid flow through the nanochannel under specific concentration and electric field conditions, and from this velocity the surface potential of the channel walls can be extracted. It also uses electrokinetic injection techniques to study the mobility of fluorescent molecules in nanofluidic devices. Data from this project will inform the development of computer models which can accurately simulate flow of biomolecules like DNA at the nanoscale.
