Title

Studying mindful walking instruction and biofeedback device use as a tool for chronic pain recovery

Abstract

Chronic pain frequently involves the dysregulation of the autonomic nervous system, namely the lack of parasympathetic nervous system activation. This study explores whether the addition of a mindful walking program to proven methods of calming biofeedback use and chronic pain education will result in further decreases in chronic pain, measured by an increased physical comfort rating. Daily measurements for mindful walking duration, physical comfort rating, and biofeedback use duration will be recorded. We hypothesize that when participants are given pain education, increasing daily mindful walking activity and biofeedback device use individually will be correlated with higher comfort levels with similar strengths.
