Solid Rocket with Vertical Takeoff-Vertical Landing Capabilities

This project develops a small-scale solid rocket capable of vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) using two Estes F-15 hobby motors. It serves as a proof of concept for reusable solid rocket technology, a capability not yet demonstrated commercially. The design incorporates COTS and 3D-printed components across subsystems including a parachute for safe testing, reaction wheel, thrust vector gimbal, flight computer, and landing legs. Success would demonstrate that solid rockets, traditionally single-use, could be recovered and reused, potentially reducing launch costs and environmental impact at scale.
