Title
The Role of Sound in Cultural Landscape Use: An Archaeoacoustic Study
Abstract
This project aims to examine a seasonal Chumash food processing site in the San Emigdio Foothills within the Wildlands Conservancy's Wind Wolves Preserve. It has been observed that this area contains bizarre acoustic properties that could have held some function and or cultural significance to the indigenous inhabitants of the area. My research aims to determine if there is a correlation between the location of human-made features and the amplification of sound at various locations at the site.
