Title
Regenerative Mechanical Brake Blending
Abstract
This project develops an electronically controlled brake balance adjustment system for the Gaucho Racing Formula SAE car to coordinate mechanical and regenerative braking. The system replaces a manual brake balance bar with a motorized balance bar powered by a 12V input and integrated with Controller Area Network (CAN) communication. Its software dynamically adjusts front-to-rear brake bias based on battery conditions, enabling real-time control of braking distribution. This improves braking consistency and supports future integration with vehicle dynamics and energy-recovery systems. The project also
evaluates different motor configurations to determine the most effective solution.
