Please Mind the Medley (working title)

This project is a devised one act that uses music, movement, and voice to bring to life the impacts of growing up in a divorced household. I explore how the guitar can not only act as ambiance, but be used as a movement partner. I aim to capture two different, disunited lives, and the turmoil that ensues when those lives overlap. This piece is visually and musically interpretive, leaving the audience room to connect through their own individual experiences and stories, regardless of if they are children of divorce or not. Translating music to movement, the movement work I created within this piece reflect this idea of two different rhythms happening simultaneously, capturing that feeling of disjointedness.
