Title

Open-Access Ocean Engineering: Designing Exploration Submarines

Abstract

The purpose of this project is to learn about fluid dynamics, robotic system controls, and materials. It aims to develop an affordable, remotely controlled submarine capable of moderate-depth water exploration that others can build. It also seeks to create a completely sealed off core where no equipment will get damaged, and propellers are replaceable to accommodate different travel users may want to undergo. The submarine will be able to provide a live video feed and dive up to 10+ meters. Through this project, I aim to identify cost-effective materials and build designs that can withstand all water environments. I hope to ultimately produce a functional, low-cost submarine that others can replicate for their own uses and gain a deeper understanding of material and fluid properties.
