Mechanical Response of FSAE Vehicle Steering Systems

In a competitive racing scenario, milliseconds matter. The steering system, the primary way in which drivers control their vehicles, must be responsive. The aim of this project is to characterize the mechanical response of the steering column, particularly investigating how universal joints, phasing and frictional resistance impact the performance of this system.
