Investigating Ocean Circulation via Dye Tracer Modeling and Particle Tracking

I used an ocean circulation model by DeVries and Primeau (2011) to run experiments in MatLab. I first injected a dye in the model which acts as a tracer we can measure the concentrations of and then can observe how the currents flow and move waters around the ocean on larger time frames. I also put theoretical particles into the model and observed where they moved based on where they were inputted. These particles can represent trash or pollution that is dropped into the ocean at specific points and will help us understand where this trash would end up in the ocean after a certain period of time.
