Integrating Art and Engineering: Solar-Powered Kinetic Sculptures for Educational Outreach

Abstract

This project explores how kinetic art powered by solar energy can spark early interest and engagement in science and engineering. We will design and build small, visually engaging kinetic sculptures that demonstrate concepts such as energy conversion and mechanical motion in ways accessible to school-aged children. By combining artistic appeal with clear educational value, we aim to identify designs that are efficient, affordable, and effective for classroom use and STEM education. Through this project, we hope to develop outreach materials that make engineering approachable for young learners and to show that creative, hands-on learning tools can strengthen STEM curiosity.
