Inspiring Learning Through Social Relationships in Early Childhood

This project investigates how parent-teacher relationships relate to children's behavior in preschool and daycare. Children aged 3 months to 5 years will be observed during classroom activities, while classroom teachers complete surveys about children’s behavior. I predict that children whose teachers have positive relationships with parents will show greater attentiveness and happiness at school. These findings will shed light on how interpersonal dynamics between key adults shape young children's learning experiences. I anticipate that this research will provide insight into supporting children's educational success through strengthening connections between the home and school. My role in this project will include refining the observation protocols after piloting, pre-registering the study, collecting data across five classrooms, and analyzing it in time for presentation at URCA week.
