Exploring Institutional Transfer Receptivity as a Potential Mediator Between Transfer Identities and

This project is an exploratory mixed methods inquiry into UCSB transfer student success using an asset-based framework. We will conduct multiple mediation analyses, studying the relationship between sociodemographic factors, and impact on perceived transition quality. The potential mediators will be considered as a constellation of latent variables, hypothesized to holistically reflect the quality of the institutional commitment to transfers. Interviews will be conducted to gather further context and meaning from quantitative results. Analysis of the interviews will be conducted to explore potential cultural barriers for students with multiple effectors of opportunity and their experiences transitioning to the university.
