Title
Cross-Cultural Comparisons of Redemption and Contamination in Turning-Point Narratives and Links with Psychological Wellbeing
Abstract
This project looks at differences in redemption (interpreting negative experiences positively) and contamination (interpreting positive experience negatively) sequences in turning points in autobiographical narratives, and its relation to psychological wellbeing in U.S. and Turkish adults. Previous collected interview data will be content coded for redemption and contamination. This will be the first time these affective thematic sequences and their relation to psychological well-being will be compared across individualistic and collectivistic cultures. This experience will strengthen my research skills and prepare me for a career path in psychological research and clinical practice.
