Cover Letters Across the Universe: a professional development training for underserved students

This project brings underserved students a step closer to their dream positions in a time where success and stability are needed more than ever. By providing students who are low-income, first generation, or students of color, with easy to follow professional development techniques, this project strives to demystify the job application process. Through a conversational and accessible slide show, students from minority backgrounds will gain step by step instructions for writing cover letters, networking, and applying to jobs strategically. Developed with UCSB's EAOP (Early Academic Outreach Program) Staff, this presentation also pulls from the lived experiences and self-advocacy needs of EAOP undergraduate interns.
