The UC Santa Barbara Office of Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities is thrilled to announce the schedule for URCA Week 2022. URCA Week showcases the incredible range of scholarship and creative endeavors UCSB undergraduates have worked on all year.
After a two-year hiatus, we are pleased to welcome the community to Corwin Pavillion to see poster presentations. Due to its popularity and accessibility, we are continuing to offer the Digital Colloquium. New this year, students will have the opportunity to present their research at moderated conference panels as well. The URCA Slam will follow a hybrid model; the qualifying round will be held asynchronously online, the Finals will take place in front of a live audience.
Poster Colloquium
The URCA Week Poster Colloquium is a poster presentation where students share their research and creative activities with the campus community in poster form. Join us to discover what UC Santa Barbara students have created during the year. The event will be held at Corwin Pavilion on Tuesday, May 3, 11am-12pm.
Students who are available at this time are asked to stand by their posters to discuss their research with guests. The posters will be displayed until 3pm.
Digital Colloquium
The Digital Colloquium allows students to post a digital artifact that shares their research or creative activities in a way that best represents the project. Students have shared everything from Google Slides and Youtube videos to innovative self-hosted sites.
Conference Panels
Students will present their research and creative projects as part of conference-style panels. Panels will be scheduled for 90-minute blocks, with each student speaking for up to 10 minutes and allowing for a brief Q&A period.
The series will be held in the UCSB Library's Transfer Student Center Conference Room and at the Center for Innovative Teaching, Research and Learning from Wednesday, May 4 through Friday, May 6, 2022.
Slam
The suspense. The lights. The crowd. The drama. The Undergraduate Research Slam is a competition where participants have just three minutes and three slides to give a dynamic presentation of their research project. Come cheer on your favorite presenter as they compete!
The Qualifying round will be held online. The top 10 submissions picked by our judges will present in person. The Slam Finals will take place at CITRAL on Thursday, May 5, 2022 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm.
