Title
Investigating the Impact of Endometriosis Pain on Brain Morphology and Quality of Life
Abstract
Endometriosis is a chronic, estrogen-dependent disorder primarily characterized by chronic pelvic pain impacting over 1 in 10 women. Individuals with endometriosis also experience significant mental health burden, yet its influence on brain health has not been adequately characterized. This project investigates the impact of endometriosis-related pain on quality of life and brain morphology, and the role of estrogen in this relationship. Serological assessments, MRI scans, and comprehensive demographic and lifestyle questionnaires were collected. Findings will contribute to a neurobiological profile of endometriosis-related pain, while highlighting the necessity to prioritize research and care for this historically overlooked population.
