This project focuses evaluating and managing the effects of human-caused disturbance and change on coastal, riparian and wetland systems in the region. Work focuses on environmental assessments (vegetation, wildlife, soils, water, etc. monitoring), managing invasive weeds, active planting and restoration of these systems. A major focus is the Santa Clara River in Ventura and Los Angeles Counties.
Learn and conduct monitoring protocols, learn to identify California plants, participate in restoration of a large local river.
Requirements and/or Application Instructions
Students interested in ecology or general biology are encouraged to apply. No prior skills are necessary, but must be eager to learn about riparian ecology and do repetitive work that requires attention to detail and organization.
